Allen Finn, the opening batsman, broke former captain Brendon McCullum’s record for the greatest T20I score by a New Zealand batsman when he hammered a stunning century against Pakistan.

A youthful, tough gun In the third Twenty20 International against Pakistan, Finn Allen struck 16 sixes, matching a World Record achievement and recording the greatest score by a Kiwi in men’s T20I internationals.

After that, Allen Finn finished with the highest score by a New Zealander in men’s T20I internationals, 137 off 62 balls, surpassing Brendon McCullum’s 123 (72) against Bangladesh in Pallekele in 2012. His six-hit performance was identical to Hazratullah Zazai’s performance in February 2019 in Dehradun against Ireland. In women’s T20Is, Suzie Bates’ 124 against South Africa in 2020 stands as New Zealand’s greatest score.

With the hosts racing to 67/1 in the powerplay with Seifert joining Allen Finn following the early retirement of Devon Conway, who was claimed by Haris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi may have regretted winning the toss and choosing to bowl.

Even after taking a second wicket (Mark Chapman for 1), Rauf managed to finish with 60 runs, indicating that the early breakthrough had minimal effect on the pace of scoring.

The least costly bowler for Pakistan was Mohammad Wasim, who finished with a 1/35 (4), with New Zealand scoring more than 10 runs per over for most of the innings.

With an Allen six off the first ball of the eighteenth over, New Zealand crossed the 200-run barrier. However, Pakistan managed to stop the bleeding when the opener was bowled by Zaman Khan a bit later, giving up just 13 runs in the last two overs.

In the third Twenty20 international of their five-match series, Allen struck 137 runs off 62 deliveries to lead his team to an enormous total of 224 for 7 in the first innings against Pakistan at the University Oval in Dunedin.

Allen Finn destroyed the Pakistani bowling attack all around the park, shattering a record held by McCullum for twelve years. His T20I score for New Zealand was the highest since it surpassed McCullum’s 2012 mark of 123 against Bangladesh.

Former Australia captain Aaron Finch holds the record for the greatest T20I individual score after smashing 172 runs against Zimbabwe in 2018. In T20I cricket, Allen’s knock also places him fifth in terms of all-time individual scoring.
